BTCs,
If you are receiving this e-mail, you are at a school that has participants in the Web 2.0 grant. As you may know, participants receive Flip Video cameras. When we gave these out at one of the face-to-face workshops, we realized that they came with updated software that records the videos as MPEG-4 files – a fact mentioned nowhere in their literature or instructions. Anyway, Windows MovieMaker (the XP version) doesn’t recognize MPEG-4. And so the fun began…
We found a free video converter that will convert the videos to AVI files, which Windows MovieMaker will recognize. Just put in a work order, and David Remy will push it out to the appropriate computers. The work order will need to contain the computer names of the computers you want it installed on, and state that you need Any Video Converter on those computers. It can take a couple of hours for the install to work, so allow plenty of time. Also, someone needs to be logged in on the machine for it to work (you can’t just turn it on and walk away – it doesn’t matter who is logged in, but someone has to be), so you may need to coordinate the timing with David. We will also send directions to the grant participants regarding how to convert the files, so once the converter has been installed, they should be good to go.
Thanks for supporting this, and thanks to David for making it work for us!
Michael
